The HD Mini is HTC’s new shrunken version of their HD2 model which boasts a massive 4.3 inch touch screen, this new ‘mini’ version scales this down to a more manageable and pocket friendly 3.2 inches whilst keeping the majority of the specifications and features in place. Still present is the 5 mega pixel camera with autofocus on the back of the phone as is the Windows operating system which is version 6.5.3, HTC Sense is still the user interface of choice whilst GPS with digital compass is still their to aid satellite navigation and turn by turn route finding.
The 1GHz processor of the
HD2 has been dropped in favour of a 600MHz model with the smaller screen not demanding as much processing power. The HTC HD Mini also includes HSPDA, Wi-Fi and 3.5G support for fast
internet connections and download speeds.
HTC have been busy of late releasing new models although the last two have been Android powered devices as opposed to this latest Windows phone, the HTC Legend and Desire models have just hit the market over the past two weeks and are already setting great sales figures for the manufacturer.
The HTC Legend offers the same 3.2 inch touch screen and 5.0 mega pixel camera but with a slightly different casing design that allows the phone to be placed down flat on its face without the main screen touching the surface using a ‘chin’ design.
The HTC Desire is a more powerful device utilising the same 1GHz chip as the HD2 model but also with an AMOLED touch screen. Other manufacturers have also been busy releasing new phones with a similar 3.2 inch display, these include the Nokia X6, Sony Ericsson Vivaz and LG GW620.
