@QWERTY34990 Wow, that…that wasn’t even CLEVER. Which means you’re either a bad troll or a bad conservative. Or both!

It’s not the hostility that gets me, it’s the willful ignorance. And that’s just what we’ve got right here.

Come back to me when you’ve got something to say that’s worth reading.

@MrNeo2001 Look, you can’t keep the FCC out of this unless you want AT&T, Verizon, Time Warner and Comcast to turn the internet into the next cable TV. Bye bye message boards, youtube, personal web-space, ’cause it’ll be too freaking expensive thanks to the gatekeepers.

The FCC only wants to pass Net Neutrality which will keep anyone from messing with the internet, keeping it the way it is now. Unless you want more of what cable TV is now, I suggest you change your priorities.

@MrNeo2001 Just saw Glenn Beck, huh?

You do realize this video is four years old, right? This isn’t a new issue.

@QWERTY34990 Where were you four years ago?

FOUR YEARS, man. That’s how old this video is.

I repeat, for the Beck shills: THIS IS NOT OBAMA’S THING. THIS IS NOT A NEW THING, WE’VE BEEN DEBATING IT FOR FOUR YEARS. DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU JUMP ON GLENN BECK’S BANDWAGON.

@godseyeview Only one ISP owns the hardware infrastructure per town. That’s why there is only one cable TV/internet provider per town. Also this is why there is only one POTS company per town. Cable is a utility service just like phone, electricity and gas. Therefore, there is little opportunity to “steal dissatisfied customers”.

Or computer, for that matter.

@godseyeview
There are hundreds of laws that were put into place that govern the telecommunications industry; if these laws were not put into place, you would not have all those choices you have. Telecommunications service is not as simple as purchasing a stereo from Wal-Mart.

@ThorkilKowalski I meant, 20th century; I was going to put dates in, but there is not enough room for the added complication, so I changed my mind, without correcting what I originally wrote.

@godseyeview
Unfortunately, telecommunication companies have to use each others backbone; there are laws in place (the Government,) to help control this type of monopoly, but companies still have some control. This is why the only answer is having laws to protect the customers.

@ThorkilKowalski
Money creates monopolies; those who have it, take over those who do not. The Bell telephone company was a monopoly since the start, up until about the later 19 century, where the Government split it up. There is not enough space here to inform you, so read up; since you are only 22, you have a lot of reading.
